Hartford through and through, Vasquez grew up in Connecticut’s capitol, attended Hartford Public Schools and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Hartford. So it is no surprise that since 2009 she has worked at Hartford Public Schools. And that work has included being involved in the groundwork of the Hartford Promise, which is slated to launch with the Class of 2016.
Currently the Program & Planning Manager in the Office of Institutional Advancement, Vazquez is accountable for key projects and program management. She provides stewardship of grants, supports the school district in its application to federal, state and private grants and monitors public processes administered through her department. She also oversees program quality of service delivery through site visits and serving as the lead in the development of standards and new processes to measure programmatic outcomes. She manages a $5 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for collaborative work between the school district and local charter management organizations.
A former National Urban Fellow at City University of New York — Baruch College, she earned a Master of Public Administration there and was selected to complete a nine-month mentorship under the Executive Vice President of the preeminent Cleveland Foundation in Ohio, the world’s first community foundation and the nation’s second largest today.
Currently a board member of the YWCA of Hartford Region, she leads as Co-Chair the Program & Advocacy Committee. She is a member Leadership Greater Hartford, the National Society of Hispanic MBAs and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Alumni Association.
Vasquez’s committee work will be focused on the school and national support sessions at PromiseNet 2014.
