Vice president and co-founder of the El Dorado Education Foundation, Mahony is also a governor-appointed member of the Arkansas State Board of Education. In 2009, Mahony received the Woman of the Year in Philanthropy Award from the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas. In 2008, she was named Arkansas Economic Developers “Volunteer of the Year.”
She is co-founder of the annual Academic Signing Day at El Dorado High School and the GLAMS (Girls Learning About Math and Science) Conference, a program for eighth-grade girls to educate and encourage them to pursue math, science and engineering careers.
A past chair of the board of the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce, Mahony served as the first chair in education for the Education Committee. She is a member of the board of directors for the Arkansas Business and Education Alliance (parent organization of the Arkansas Scholars Program) and is a member of the South Arkansas Community College Foundation Board. She serves as the Arkansas representative for the Governmental Affairs Committee of the National Association of State Boards of Education and serves on the Committee of the Arkansas Coalition of Military Children and the El Dorado Festivals and Events.
Mahony — who has a B.S. from John Brown University and an M.B.A. from Harding University — recently attended the Leadership Program/Commandant’s National Security Program held at the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks in July, 2014, as a guest of the Commandant. She is a member of the El Dorado Rotary Club, South Arkansas Arts Center and the First Presbyterian Church.
